Raden Igun Wicaksono claimed not to recognize ojol representatives who had an audience with Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka at the Vice President’s Palace Sunday (31/8).
He said the ojol drivers who met the Vice President were not members of their associations.For this irregularity he alluded to the unclear groups of those represented during the meeting with Gibran.
“Yes (not know). No one knows from which group they represent who. Because what is certain is that we as our association are institutionalized and registered with the State or Government of the Republic of Indonesia. And we are direct eyewitnesses (incidents that befall Affan Kurniawan),” Igun told

Igun put suspicion and questioned the origin of the ojol drivers who were invited to dialogue because in fact both he and his colleagues in the association did not recognize those who were displayed in the news during the dialogue.Igun had mentioned the possibility of engineering from the government who might not really bring Ojol but rather the people of Ojol.
“So what circulates in Ojol’s colleagues is that these friends are disappointed especially seeing that there are groups that have never represented online motorcycle taxis suddenly with the vice president. Is this an engineering or setting to take advantage of the tragedy of the death of Affan Kurniawan to find sympathy by inviting ojol or ojol-tubers that we do not know that ojol or not,” said Igun.
For this, the Ojol Association expressed its disappointment because there was no good coordination from the Vice President’s Secretariat (Setwapres) with the Ojol Association.In fact, the ojol association is the party whose members are directly at the location when the tragedy of the death of Affan Kurniawan occurs so that it can provide more representative information.
“They never existed at the location. This group was never at the location or these people were never at the location, because we at the time of the incident occurred we were at the location. Until the autopsy of the body was carried out at the RSCM and until finished we continued to escort him,” he said.
“So we assess this is the carelessness of the Setwishing President. By inviting those who are not known to the online motorcycle taxi,” he continued.
Even if the representatives invited by the Vice President were truly ojol drivers, Igun regretted the carelessness of the Setwishing Party because he did not collect the statements of the ojol witnesses who were at the scene.This odd hearing is feared even causing dysformation of ojol input to the government which should be considered the steps to be taken to suppress public anger in general and ojol drivers in particular.
“Now this must be known by the public that we cannot accept this carelessness. Because it will certainly cause information errors or disinformation,” Igun added.
Instead of subside, the blunder from Setwapres was even backfire that did not reduce public anger.Gibran is required to be more transparent and communicative to those who are directly involved during key events at the recent demonstrations.
As a context, the official Instagram account Setwapres uploaded a video meeting with ojol driver representatives with Gibran.The ojol driver representative said the meeting was a forum to convey unrest due to the decline in revenue since the massive demonstration broke out.
It is known, in the back of the past there was a massive demonstration of the tail of the community over the procurement of the allowance of members of the DPR which was considered too large in the midst of the economic conditions of the people who had difficulty.
The demonstration increasingly widespread into riots when triggered by the death of the online motorcycle taxi driver Affan Kurniawan who was crushed by Brimob’s Rantis on August 28, 2025.
