Hundreds of people dressed in white, barefoot, and hit cold air to celebrate the holy new year near Lake Babreka (Kidney), Bulgaria, which is at an altitude of 2,280 meters above sea level.
The event was attended by members of the Universal White Brotherhood, a spiritual association founded in the 1920s by a Bulgarian teacher, Peter Deunov.

The name of this association does not refer to race or ethnicity, but in light, the purity of the soul, and the belief that all human beings can live in harmony, his followers said.
