Udayana University
(Unud) Bali said that students who were proven to have committed acts of bullying were related to death
Timothy Anugerah Saputra
(21), will be expelled or drop out (DO).
Currently the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence and Bullying (PPKPT) is investigating unempathetic or non-empathetic remarks on social media allegedly made by a number of Unud students.
Head of the Public Communications Unit at Udayana University, Dewi Pascarani, said that several students suspected of being perpetrators of non-empathetic remarks had been summoned and questioned. To speed up the process, the task force is supported by a fact-finding team formed by the university consisting of several elements, namely legal experts and psychologists.

“The university has summoned the perpetrators and recommended that they give bad marks for ability

and if proven to be bullying, he will be threatened with dropping out (DO),” said Dewi during a press conference at the Postgraduate Building, Sudirman Campus, Unud, in Denpasar, Bali, Tuesday (20/10).
“But once again, this is not the final sanction. Sanctions will be determined by the chancellor based on the recommendations of the PPKPT Task Force. When the perpetrator is proven to have indeed carried out the alleged action and also the extent of the impact and what appropriate sanctions are given in accordance with the rules,” he said.
The PPKPT Task Force, said Dewi, will bring in language experts to identify the actions of the alleged perpetrators.Does that include the category of bullying or even more?
“Maybe we will see what the results are like. But the maximum if there is a case of bullying or ethical violations, we can reflect on the previous case, namely expulsion from the university,” he said.
Dewi said there were six students from the FISIP Faculty who were suspected of making unempathetic remarks after the victim died.
“In the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences there are six (people). But for other faculties we still need further confirmation. Because like this, these are remarks on social media, unempathetic remarks on social media, that is definitely different from whether this can be said to be bullying, that is also still under review by the PPKPT Task Force,” he said.
He also conveyed the unempathetic remarks made by the students, delivered after the victim died.
“Perhaps one more thing needs to be clarified, that the non-empathetic actions or words were carried out after the deceased died. So not before the deceased died,” he said.
The investigation process will be carried out in two weeks and behind closed doors.
“The leadership is targeting two weeks. But we will definitely continue to try to be faster than that. For updates regarding the investigation from the task force, we just received a report that there were student perpetrators who had been summoned, across faculties. Not only from FISIP, but also from (other faculties) as previously asked. But regarding the number, witnesses, and so on, there has been no progress,” he said.
Until now, the student suspected of being the perpetrator of the bullying in Timothy’s death is still continuing his education.
“Until now, it is still ongoing. Because currently it is still in the UTS stage and is being examined. So there has been no suspension decision or anything given by the faculty. Because we are once again waiting for the results from the PPKPT Task Force,” he said.
