Tito: A number of regional heads complain that budgets are thin to handle flooding

According to him, regional governments usually use unexpected expenditure budgets (BTT) to deal with emergency problems like this.

“I received complaints from fellow regional heads, because it’s the end of the year, their BTT budget, they usually use unexpected spending during an emergency like this, on average it’s very thin,” said Tito at Halim Perdana Kusuma Air Base, Jakarta, Wednesday (3/12).
Tito admitted that he had issued a circular to all regional heads to work together with each other.
He asked regions that still have excess budget funds to help regions that experience limitations.
“This is the time for fellow regional heads to help each other because this can happen anywhere, at any time,” he said.
Flash floods and landslides hit a number of areas in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.
The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) recorded that the death toll from floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra had increased to 753 people as of Wednesday (3/12) morning.
Based on data displayed on the official BNPB website, the number of missing victims is 650 people in the three affected provinces.
In detail, the number of victims who died in Aceh was 218 people and 227 people were missing.Then in North Sumatra, 301 people died and 163 people disappeared.
Meanwhile in West Sumatra, 234 people died and 260 other people were still declared missing.
Meanwhile, the number of injured in this disaster reached 2,600 people in the three provinces.Then, the total number of people affected by major floods in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra reached 3.3 million people.
