Tiktok also said that the completion process would be carried out by continuing to uphold their commitment to protect user privacy.
“At the same time continue to be committed to protecting user privacy and ensuring our platforms are safe and responsible for the Tiktok community in Indonesia,” he said.
The Tiktok platform is still accessed by all users in Indonesia.Their operations are not affected by the TDPSE freezing conducted by Komdigi.
Previously, Komdigi temporarily frozen TDPSE against Tiktok Pte.Ltd.for the non-compliance of Tiktok in fulfilling obligations in accordance with statutory regulations.
This freezing is related to an investigation of alleged live monetization of an account indicated by online gambling activities (Judol) during a series of demonstrations last August.
“This step is a form of government firmness after Tiktok only provides partial data on the activities of Tiktok Live during the demonstration period August 25-30 2025,” said Director General of Digital Room Supervision, Alexander Patient at the Komdigi Office, Jakarta, Friday (3/10).
Alex said that his party had submitted a request for data that included traffic information, live streaming (live streaming), and monetization data, including the amount and value of gift giving.The request follows the alleged monetization of live activities from accounts that indicated online gambling activities.
“We have summoned Tiktok to provide clarification directly on September 16, 2025, and Tiktok was given until September 23, 2025 to deliver the requested data in full,” said Alex.
However, through an official letter from Tiktok numbered ID/PP/04/IX/2025 dated September 23, 2025, it was stated that Tiktok has an internal policies and procedures that regulate how to handle and respond to data requests, so that Tiktok said it could not provide the requested data.
The data request, said Alex, refers to Article 21 paragraph (1) of the Minister of Communication and Information Regulation Number 5 of 2020 concerning the Organizer of the Private Electronic System which states the PSE liabilities of the Private Scope to provide access to electronic and/or electronic data systems to the ministries or institutions in the context of supervision in accordance with statutory regulations.
“So, Komdigi assessed that Tiktok had violated his obligation as a private PSE, and we took the temporary freezing step of TDPSE as a form of follow -up to supervision,” he said.
He said this decisive step of freezing was not merely administrative action, but rather a form of state protection to ensure the safety of Indonesian people from the risk of abuse of digital technology, and ensure that digital transformation runs healthy, fair, and safe for all citizens.
