Head of TNI Information Center Brigadier General Freddy Ardianzah alluded to the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) which stated that defamation could not be reported by the institution.
“With the decision of the MK 105/2024, the TNI will also consider carefully legal steps in accordance with applicable regulations,” Freddy said when contacted on Wednesday (10/9).
He explained on Monday (8/9), the TNI was still in the legal consultation stage with the Metro Police regarding Ferry Irwandi’s statements and actions.
Freddy said there was a suspicion of Ferry’s statement in public spaces, both through social media and interviews, which contained provocative efforts, slander, hatred, and disinformation manipulated by framing to create a negative perception and image.
“The actions and actions taken by the person concerned, not only discredit the TNI, but also disturbing the community, potentially dividing unity, pitting sheep between the community and the authorities, and between the TNI and the National Police and the National Police,” he said.
According to him, the legal steps that will be taken are not solely in the interests of the TNI institution, but in order to maintain the dignity and honor of all TNI soldiers and maintain the unity of national unity and national security stability.
“As citizens, we all must prioritize the interests of the nation and state above personal and group interests. We invite the whole community to remain calm, wise, and not be provoked by information or actions that can divide,” he said.
Previously, through the video uploaded on his Instagram account @irwandiferry, Ferry claimed not to know about the alleged criminal suspicion.
In the video, Ferry also stated that he was ready if he had to undergo a legal process. He was also not afraid of the TNI’s actions.
“If for example this action is considered to make me afraid, worry, worry, no. I will live, I will not play Victim, whining, no. If you really want to be processed by law, this is a rule of law, we live together,” he said.
Furthermore, Ferry also denied he could not be contacted. He claimed to have never received a message from the TNI.
“I am still in Jakarta, I will not go to Singapore, China and so on. The problem cannot be contacted, I also do not understand, all journalists can be very easy to contact me even though I have never asked my number and my number has also spread everywhere and I have to confirm messages or anything never got to me,” he said.
