With one hard blow, the trunk managed to turn two cancers at once, dropping four tourists and one guide into the water. The third canoe managed to avoid and capture the event.
After the attack, the Kano guide immediately got up and ran to the riverbank to save himself, leaving two tourists adrift in the water.
The elephant seemed not satisfied. The large mammal again attacked a tourist who tried to get up from the water.Luckily, the murky swamp water saves the tourist, making the elephant unable to track it under water.
Shortly thereafter, the elephant moved away with his herd, as quoted from
The Strait Times
on Tuesday (30/9).
Based on witnesses’ testimonies, Kano guides were accused of escaping to the riverbank and leaving their passengers, after previously allegedly directing Kano too close to the elephant.
A former South African forest guard who reviewed the recording
Daily Mail
that the tourist attacked was “very lucky.”
“If the elephant holds him in a few seconds, or gore it with his ivory, he will most likely die,” he explained.

Loss and dangers of wildlife
The tourists finally managed to reach the mainland safely, although reportedly shaken due to the incident.
Although no one was seriously injured, some equipment such as cameras and mobile phones were reported missing, according to local tour company staff.
“Luckily no one was seriously injured,” said a receptionist from one of the safari operators.”But wild animals can indeed be very unexpected,” he said.
Delta Okavango, which is a UNESCO world heritage site, is famous for its elephant population which is the largest in Africa.Botswana itself is home to around 130,000 elephants, part of the estimated total of 415,000 elephants throughout the continent.
Although respected, elephants are deadly animals. They kill hundreds of people every year, most often happens when humans approach the parent of elephants who are guarding their children.
