Silfester was not present at the trial on the grounds of illness.
South Jakarta District Court Public Relations (PN), Rio Barten, said Silfester’s absence was conveyed through a letter submitted by his attorney.

On that basis, the panel of judges decided to postpone the PK session and will be held again on Wednesday (27/8) next week.
Rio explained Silfester as the PK applicant must attend the trial.This refers to the Supreme Court Circular Letter Number 1 of 2012.
“It is different if the person concerned is already in the Penitentiary so that it can be done by his attorney. So, if in this case the applicant must attend himself at the trial,” he said.
On that basis, Rio said the presence of Silfester as the Petitioner in this PK session was a must.
“So in accordance with the provisions that PK requests must be attended directly, if not attended directly, it does not meet the requirements,” he said.
Silfester was charged with a case of alleged defamation and slander after Solihin Kalla who was a child of Jusuf Kalla reported it in 2017 related to his words in a speech.
In his speech, Silfester accused Vice President Jusuf Kalla of using the SARA issue of winning the Anies Baswedan-Sandiaga Uno pair in the DKI Jakarta Election.
Silfester was later sentenced to 1 year in prison on July 30, 2018. The decision was then strengthened at the appeal level which was read on October 29, 2018.
At the cassation level, the panel of judges aggravated Silfester’s sentence to be a sentence of 1 year and 6 months in prison.
But until now the decision of the Cassation Panel of Judges has not yet been executed.The latest, Silfester actually submitted a request for a review (PK) at the South Jakarta District Court.
