Previously, residents of Inbate Village, Bikomi Nilulat District, North Central Timor Regency (TTU) were shot during clashes with Timor Leste apparatus when defending the state boundaries allegedly shifted by Timor Leste.
The incident occurred on Monday (8/25) around 09.00 in Tapal 33, Nino Hamlet, Inbate Village.A total of 24 residents of Nino Hamlet were involved in clashes with seven Unidade de Patrulhammate Da Fronteira (UPF) personnel equipped with long banned weapons.
According to the TTU Police Chief, AKBP.Eliana Papote, from the results of an examination of residents involved in clashes, the cause of the shooting due to the actions of Timor Leste apparatus who will build a pillar (stake) of the state boundary that is suspected of entering the territory of Indonesia.
“The reason: there is an action from Timor Leste apparatus who wants to build a state border pillar that is allegedly included in the territory of the Republic of Indonesia,” Eliana said.
Eliana also said, according to the witness examination, Timor Leste apparatus then carried out the shooting directly to Indonesian citizens.This action triggers a reaction until a clash occurs.
Meanwhile, Head of Public Relations of NTT Polda Kombes Pol.Henry Novika Chandra clashed because of differences in perceptions related to regional boundaries according to the provisional agreement on the Land Boundary in 2005.
“We have appealed to temporarily not active at that location for mutual safety,” Henry said.
