“All ministries/institutions were ordered by the President, including the TNI-Polri, BNPB and all components to mobilize their resources as fully as possible to deal with the disaster in Sumatra. So once again the handling is really full force handling nationally,” said Pratikno at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Wednesday (3/12).
Pressure on the issue of declaring it a national disaster was previously conveyed by a number of parties.
The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) recorded that the death toll from floods and landslides in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra had increased to 753 people as of Wednesday (3/12) morning.
Based on data displayed on the official BNPB website, the number of missing victims is 650 people in the three affected provinces.
