Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Arief Prasetyo Adi explained that the budget was allocated for the distribution of 10 kilograms of rice (kg) and 2 liter oil cooking oil per month per recipient of assistance.Distribution is planned to be done once in a time at once.
“So it has been decided that 2 liter cooking oil assistance is multiplied by two months, it means that in total 4 liters. We want it only once. The total budget is around Rp6.5 trillion,” Arief said in an official statement after attending a coordination meeting at the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Central Jakarta, Monday (22/9).

He detailed, Rp1.1 trillion was allocated for cooking oil assistance, while Rp5.3 trillion for rice.
“Rp6.5 trillion is for food assistance in the form of rice plus cooking oil. If the assistance of cooking oil is around Rp1.1 trillion. Then around Rp5.3 trillion for rice food assistance. So the total is Rp6.5 trillion,” Arief added.
For the allocation of October and November, rice assistance will be distributed as many as 365.5 thousand tons.Meanwhile, the cooking oil distributed reached 73.1 thousand kiloliters, aimed at 18.27 million recipients of food assistance throughout Indonesia.
According to Arief, the steps to add cooking oil in the assistance package are expected to ease the burden on low -income people.Data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that cooking oil is one of the commodities that influenced the poverty level in March 2025, with the price increase in February 2025 compared to March 2024.
BPS also recorded rice as a commodity with the biggest contribution to the poverty line, both in urban and rural areas.In March 2025, rice contributed 21.06 percent to the poverty line in urban areas and 24.92 percent in rural areas.
Arief added that his party immediately submitted a budget proposal to the Ministry of Finance so that the program could run on schedule.
“Indeed, the budget does not yet exist in the Food Agency. Now based on today’s meeting (9/22), the National Food Agency submitted to the Ministry of Finance. The target of October we began to carry out,” he said.
On the same occasion, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto ensured additional oil cooking oil for the October and November food assistance programs.According to him, the budget has been prepared by the Ministry of Finance.
“It was discussed related to the operationalization of the 8+4+5 economic package consisting of 17 packages. The first eight package programs were applied in 2025. Food assistance was added besides 10 kilograms of rice for two months, 2 liters of oil were added,” Airlangga said.
“This is the target to 18.3 million KPM (beneficiary families). (The budget) has been prepared by the Minister of Finance (Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa). So 2 liters of 18 million, are multiplied, 2 liters of 2 packages to 4 liters (oil),” he continued.
This food assistance package is part of the 2025 Economic Package and employment absorption consisting of 8 acceleration programs in 2025, four advanced programs in 2026, as well as five mainstay programs for employment expansion.The government calls this step as a strategy to face global challenges while encouraging quality economic growth.
