Shortly after, the captain of the ship made a public announcement that explained that the electricity problem had paralyzed a cruise ship engine.
The passenger added that the situation became more worrying when the electricity went out completely and the toilet could not be used for almost three hours.
With around 8,000 people in the ship, including the crew, the woman was worried that the condition could quickly get worse if the toilet still would not function longer.
Even so, he said the crew handled the incident well: information for passengers was updated for about two hours and the supply of food and drinks remained sufficient.
Since shortly after 4 pm on Monday, the cruise ship has moved again, even with reduced speed and under the escort of the Italian coast guard.
Italian coast guard official said the situation remained calm, with good sea conditions and reserve generators who supply important services on the ship.
“The situation on the ship is calm and controlled,” the coast guard told the local media.”The weather and sea conditions are beneficial, and important services for passengers continue to be provided by generators on ships,” he added.
The next scheduled stop is Naples (Napoli), Italy, where after the passenger arrives, and the shipping company will conduct a deep technical inspection.
Guests scheduled to sail on the next voyage will not know if they can leave until the ship is checked.
Shipping companies will provide updates to affected passengers, including any changes on the shipping schedule if the shipping is continued with a delayed schedule.
The statement from MSC Cruises said that the passengers and crew were never in danger at all when the incident of MSC World Europa’s 11 -hour strikes.
