Good news for nature lovers, the Gunung Rinjani National Park Hall (TNGR) officially reopens the hiking trail

The opening was carried out after a temporary closure on 1-10 August 2025 in response to the death of the Brazilian climber, Juliana Marins.
The Head of TNGR, Yarman, asked the climbers to comply with the updated Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).He stressed, safety is a top priority when climbing a high -risk mountain.

Yarman added, Rinjani was included in the grade IV category, which indicated that the risk of climbing was quite high.Therefore, all these new rules are made to guarantee the safety and comfort of climbers.
TNGR has also made a thorough improvement on the path, installing safety, and information boards thanks to the joint team cooperation.
Prospective climbers can now order tickets online through the Erinjani application since August 9, 2025.
Important points in the new climbing soup
This latest SOP focuses more on the requirements and preparation before climbing.Some rules that must be obeyed include:
– Health Certificate: Every prospective climber must have a health certificate issued a maximum of one day before climbing.
– Statement and Insurance: Must fill out a statement (informed consent) and include other insurance data owned.
– Climbing Experience: Local climbers are required to have the experience of climbing mountains or other hills.The proof can be in the form of photos, certificates, or interview results, which are equipped with a statement.
– Mandatory assistance: Local climbers under 17 years or novice climbers must be accompanied by guides or experienced climbers aged over 17 years.Underage climbers are also required to include written permission from parents/guardians.

– Safety Briefing: All climbers must follow the safety briefing (audio/video) and education prepared by the officer before starting the climb.
– Guide and Porter Ratio: Each certified guide is maximum accompanying five climbers with a load of 15 kg.Meanwhile, a maximum porter accompanied two foreign climbers or three local climbers.Climbers are also strongly advised to use additional guides when they want to go to the top.
– Completeness of equipment: Tour Operator (TO) is required to ensure guest climbing equipment, such as tents, cooking utensils, P3K, logistics, mini -spodies, survival kit, and webbing rope along a minimum of 10 meters, in good condition.
– Prohibition: prohibited from disturbing public order.The use of active speakers and guitar musical instruments is also not permitted during climbing.
With the enactment of this new SOP, it is hoped that climbing activities on Mount Rinjani can run safer, more organized, and comfortable for all parties.
