Never detained despite being sentenced to 1.5 years in prison in the case of slander against former vice president

The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) said that the Request for Review (PK) submitted by Silfester did not obstruct the process of executing the court’s decision regarding the prison verdict.
Quoted from the page of the South Jakarta District Court (PN) Case search information system (PN), the Silfester PK request was registered on August 5.
“The principle is that PK does not delay execution,” Kapuspenkum Attorney General Anang Supriatna told reporters on Monday (11/8).
Nevertheless, Anang did not explain further about the execution of Silfester.He said, it was the authority of the South Jakarta District Attorney’s Office (Kejari).
“That is the authority of the South Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office. Try later it will be confirmed, whether there has been a PK request to the South Jakarta District Court or as well as being checked whether it was passed on the South Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office,” he said.
Cases ensnared Silfester occurred after a child from Jusuf Kalla, Solihin Kalla reported Silfester in 2017 related to the alleged slander that he said in a speech.
The video when Silvester gave speeches at that time circulated on social media.In his speech, Silvester accused the Vice President JK of using the SARA issue to win the Anies Baswedan-Sandiaga Uno pair in the DKI Jakarta Regional Election.
He was reported for alleged criminal acts of defamation and slander through the media as stated in Article 310 of the Criminal Code, 311 of the Criminal Code, as well as Articles 27 and 28 of Law Number 8 of 2011 concerning ITE.
Silfester was later sentenced to 1 year in prison on July 30, 2018. The decision was then strengthened at the appeal level which was read on October 29, 2018.
At the cassation level, the panel of judges aggravated Silfester’s sentence to be a sentence of 1 year and 6 months in prison.But until now the decision of the cassation judges has not yet been executed.
