Reporting these items include Patek Patek Watches Philippe and Richard Mille, Hermes and Louis Vuitton’s handbags, some jewelry with diamonds, as well as some gold bars weighing between 999 grams and one (1) kilogram.
These items are part of the assets confiscated in the Anti-Money Laundering Operation involving 10 Foreign Citizens (WNA) who were arrested in several raids on August 15, 2023. A total of 17 suspects fled from Singapore in the middle of the investigation.
The police said all the remaining non-cash assets would be handed over gradually to Deloitte to be managed and liquidated.
In total, the police have confiscated or took over non-cash assets of around $ 1.25 billion (around Rp. 15.8 trillion) during the investigation.The assets include cars, property, artwork, watches, jewelry, gold bars, handbags, and alcohol bottles.
A total of 54 properties and several items were liquidated in early 2024.
On August 12, the police officially appointed Deloitte & Touch Financial Advisory Services to manage and liquidate the remaining non-cash assets in this case.
According to the Singapore Police, Deloitte will submit an asset sales proposal at the specified time and the results will be deposited to the consolidated funds.
“This proposal can be auction and direct sales. Deloitte will begin to realize it after the government approves the proposal,” the police said.
The nine men and one woman arrested had been sentenced in 2024. They were jailed between 13-17 months for a number of violations including money laundering, counterfeiting, and resistance to arrests.
This money laundering case involved millions of dollars obtained over the years from illegal gambling networks based in Southeast Asia.The perpetrators came from China and had a criminal track record.
They were deported and prohibited from entering Singapore after their sentence was expired.
