) New TNI in the title of Military Operational and Honorary Force, on Sunday (10/8).
The six Kodam consists of XIX/Tuanku Tambusai which oversees the Riau and Riau Islands regions;XX/Tuanku Imam Bonjol oversees the Padang and Jambi regions;and XXI/Radin Inten in charge of the Lampung and Bengkulu regions.
Then Kodam XXII/Tambun Bungai which oversees the Central Kalimantan and South Kalimantan regions;XXIII/Palaka Wira oversees the Central Sulawesi and Sulbar regions;and XXIV/Mandala Trikora which oversees the Merauke and South Papua regions.
In his mandate, Prabowo said that at this time the world was full of uncertainty due to the war that occurred everywhere.Therefore, he said that Indonesia, which is not in favor of any block, has no choice but to strengthen its own defense.
“And for that today I installed six new Kodam Commanders, twenty new Brigade Commanders and one hundred Territorial Battalion Development,” Prabowo said at the ceremony.
Military observers from the Institute for Security and Strategic Studies (ISESS) Khairul Fahmi said the formation of the six new Kodam was not a sudden policy.He explained that it was originally included in the plan to develop long -term and medium -term defense postures.
Fahmi said that the Kodam itself has a vital role as a command node to shorten the range of control.In addition, the Kodam also aims to integrate operations in its territory and become a liaison between the TNI and the Regional Government related to the defense of the universe.
