Chinese social media was suddenly filled with rumors

died in prison, after rumors circulated that the former EXO member had died under suspicious circumstances.
This news came from reports from a number of Taiwanese media and uploads from accounts claiming to be prisoners in the same prison as Kris Wu.

on Thursday (13/11) reported that a man who claimed to be in the same prison as Kris Wu heard officers whispering about the idol’s alleged death.He even mentioned various scenarios of causes of death which then spread widely on the internet.

The man claimed Kris Wu died after experiencing gang sexual violence by gang members in prison.Another version says the singer died of hunger strike after being placed alone in a small, dark room.
“It’s true that she died… Rumors say that she was gang-raped by members of a local gang, and because she couldn’t satisfy them, they killed her,” the man was quoted as saying

Several posts on Chinese social media also narrated that Kris Wu experienced a decline in his health due to his prolonged hunger strike until he finally died.
However, the Jiangsu police denied all these reports.The police stated that the information circulating was fake or a hoax.
They also asked the public to stop manipulating Kris Wu’s photos and spreading them on social media.
Rumors about Kris Wu’s death have been circulating since early November.However, until now there is no evidence to support this claim, while official authorities have confirmed that the news is not true.
Kris Wu, or Wu Yifan, was sentenced to 13 years in prison in 2022 for rape and gang sexual harassment.The case started with accusations from influencer Du Meizhu, who said that Kris committed sexual violence when the victim was drunk.
The investigation found that on July 1, 2018, Kris Wu and several men held a drinking party with a number of women and committed non-consensual acts.He was found guilty of raping three women and ordered to be deported from China after serving his sentence.
