According to Rizieq, dozens of districts/cities in three provinces affected by the disaster were enough to be declared a national disaster.
“If it is declared a national disaster, then the handling will be more focused, it will be more serious, and it will open the door to aid for the whole world who wants to come, who wants to help. If our country is not yet capable, don’t close the door to world aid, right?”he said.
On that occasion, Rizieq also invited the crowd who came to come together to help the victims of the disaster.Rizieq asked the mass organizations present at the 212 reunion to raise humanitarian funds to help the victims affected by flash floods and landslides in Sumatra.
“All FPI branches in Aceh, North Sumatra, as well as West Sumatra, since the first day the earthquake occurred, have all opened posts and public kitchens to help our brothers and sisters,” he said.
The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) recorded that the death toll in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra had increased to 712 people as of Tuesday (2/12) afternoon.
Based on BNPB data displayed on their official website, the number of missing victims is 507 people in the three affected provinces.
