, Friday (8/8).
“This step will further worsen the humanitarian situation in Gaza and not in line with the enthusiasm of the international community to resolve the Gaza War and start efforts to resolve the Palestinian and Israeli conflict through the two countries’ solutions.”
The solution of two countries is a framework agreed upon by the international community to resolve Israeli-Palestinian conflicts, including the establishment of two countries that live side by side, peace, mutual respect, and mutual respect for sovereignty.
Previously in a security cabinet meeting held on Thursday (7/8), the Israeli cabinet approved Netanyahu’s plan to occupy Gaza totally.
In the official release of the PM office it was mentioned that the Security Cabinet agreed on the Netanyahu proposal to defeat Hamas.
“The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) will prepare to take over the city of Gaza while ensuring the distribution of humanitarian assistance to civilians outside the battle zone,” the release continued.
The release did not explain in more detail what the military will do in the city of Gaza. The city is around the north area of the Gaza Strip.
However, the decision of the Israeli security cabinet will certainly expand and enlarge Israeli military operations on the Gaza Strip which has been going on since October 2023.
Netanyahu’s plan was actually rejected by many circles including the Chief of Staff of the Military Armed Forces. He considered the operation could be a trap if continued.
Assistant Secretary General of the UN Miroslav Jenca voiced the concern during a meeting with the Security Council.
“Such actions will have the consequences of disasters and can increasingly endanger the lives of the remaining hostages in Gaza,” Jenca said on Tuesday (5/8), quoted by Reuters.
Jenca stressed that international law clearly stated that Gaza must remain an integral part of the Palestinian state in the future.
