The Indonesian Parliament asked the government to immediately resolve the polemic regarding the rules of music royalties that were being discussed in recent times.
This was conveyed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani at the 1st DPR RI plenary meeting year 2025-2026, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Friday (15/8).He said, the Indonesian Parliament gave great attention related to the problems that became the concern of the people, one of which was royalties.
“Implementation of copyright royalties,” Puan said in his speech.
In addition to that problem, Puan as the Speaker of the DPR also asked the government to implement the Constitutional Court’s decision on free education for elementary and junior high schools.
In recent months, the polemic about music royalties has become a public discussion.Some musicians demand the right to their songs sung and played in public.
