President
Prabowo Subianto
expressed his hope that Indonesia could have a state budget (
APBN
) without
deficit
in 2027 or 2028.
The statement was made by Prabowo in front of the board members when delivering the 2026 Draft State Budget and Financial Note.
“The government that I lead promised before this assembly we will continue to carry out efficiency so that this deficit we want to emphasize as little as possible,” Prabowo said, Friday (8/15).
“And it is my hope is my goal for one day whether in 2027 or 2028 I want to stand in front of this assembly on this podium to say that we have succeeded in having an APBN that has no deficit at all,” he added.
In the 2026 State Budget design, state expenditure was allocated at Rp3,786.5 trillion.State revenue is targeted to reach Rp3,147.7 trillion, so the budget deficit is projected to Rp638.8 trillion or 2.48 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
The deficit will be supported by financing which is considered prudent, innovative, and sustainable.
Prabowo stressed that to achieve this target, the government will take various steps for savings and improvement of state financial governance.
“We must be brave, we must be brave and we must be determined, eliminate leaks, suppress all forms of leakage and for that I ask for the support of all political forces in Indonesia,” he said.
