Approved the establishment of the Labor Welfare Council and Task Force Termination of Employment (Task Force) which was planned to be revealed by the President during the commemoration of International Labor Day (May Day) in Jakarta on May 1, 2025.
“We want to say that what we have discussed so far, we design together, regarding the issue of the Task Force and the Labor Welfare Council, some time ago it was approved and signed by the President,” said Minister of State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi, who is also a spokesman for the Republic of Indonesia at the Indonesian Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Thursday (28/8) night.

The meeting will later discuss including the design and structure of the Labor Welfare Council and the Task Force for Layoffs so that they can directly work as the agreements that have been agreed upon in the meeting.
The formation of the layoff task force is one of the six demands of demonstrations held by various trade union confederations in front of the MPR Complex, DPR, DPD RI, Jakarta, Thursday afternoon.
The President of the Labor Party Said Iqbal, who is also the President of the Confederation of the Indonesian Workers Union (KSPI), said there were six demands of the mass of labor action, which was voiced today, and on the May 2025 commemoration. The six demands were removing outsourcing labor and rejecting cheap wages, the Setop of Film and the Government immediately formed a Fily Task Force, then Labor Tax Reform.
Another demand is to be passed by the Manpower Bill without Omnibus Law Cipta Working Law, ratified the asset grabbing bill as a concrete step in eradicating corruption, and finally the rearrangement of the 2029 Election System in order to produce clean leaders.
In the May 2025 celebration, President Prabowo in the presence of thousands of workers announced the plan to form a national labor welfare council as an instrumental to remove outsourcing systems or transfer workers.
“As a gift for the workers today, I will soon form a National Labor Welfare Council,” President Prabowo said before thousands of workers.
The National Labor Welfare Council, as explained by the President, is a body in charge of giving advice to the president regarding the improvement of laws and regulations that are considered not in favor of workers.The council structure will involve labor leaders from all over Indonesia.
Meanwhile, the Task Force was formed by the president to anticipate unilateral termination of employment that is often experienced by workers.
