Pope Leo XIV opposes the forced transfer of Palestinians in
Gaza
, along with the intensification of Israeli attacks on the city of Gaza.
In his weekly Angelus prayer in the Vatican, Sunday (9/21), Pope Leo stressed that “There is no future built on violence, forced refugee, and revenge.”
The role of Pope Leo in advocating peace in Gaza has become stronger since Israel attacked the only Catholic Church in the region in July 2025.
“Society needs peace. Those who truly love people work for peace,” added the first Pope from the United States, as reported by
Al Jazeera
.
Pope Leo’s statement was delivered when Israel increased its military campaign in Gaza, where the war that lasted for almost two years has killed more than 65,000 people and destroyed the humanitarian situation.
The Pope has repeatedly called for the end of violence in the region, urged dialogue, reconciliation, and respect for human dignity as the only way to just and eternal peace.
