Eliana said the incident began with tensions between the residents of Inbate Village and UPF personnel when the Timor Leste apparatus installed state boundaries.Residents claim that the stakes installed were not Timor Leste, until there was a tension led to the shooting.
Inbate villagers tried to stop the construction of the stakes or state border pillars in the 36 Nino hamlet on Monday morning, around 09.00 WITA.
Timor Leste Penal Patok who was expelled by Inbate residents was allegedly reporting to UPF, then seven police border police came in full armed.
“Around 09.00 WITA, as many as 7 UPF personnel armed with long barrel came to the location and fired at the direction of Indonesians,” he said.
He mentioned that as a result of the shot, 24 Indonesian citizens resisted using machetes and throwing stones.
Eliana explained in the crime scene, officers found evidence in the form of eight bullet cladas and a projectile allegedly originating from long -barreled weapons by UPF apparatus.
Inbate Village is a village that borders directly with the Oecusse Districk, the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste (RDTL).In the 36th boundary it is still a dispute between RI-RDTL.
Meanwhile TTU Regent, Yoseph Falentinus Dellalle Kebo said that the protest of Inbate Village residents was shot by a resident by UPF, because the Timor Leste did not comply with the agreement not to install stakes in areas that were still in conflict or status quo.
