Airline
National Israel, El Al Al, filed a complaint to the French authorities after an incident that was reported occurred in French airspace on Monday (11/8) evening local time.
As reported
One mile at a time
, this incident added a greater problem faced by El Al Al in France, where the airline accused France of no longer issuing a work visa for its security staff.
On Monday (11/8), a French air traffic controller reportedly had a special message for El Al Aviation pilots who had just begun his journey from Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) to Tel Aviv Ben Gurion (TLV).
About 12 minutes after taking off, the air traffic controlled allegedly added words
Free Palestine
or “free Palestine” on the transmission. The pilots reported this to the company, and now this problem has reached the Israeli government, which will follow it up with the France.
“El al looked at the incident that occurred last night, where a French air traffic controller greeted one of his pilots in an unprofessional and inappropriate way, very seriously. We handled this problem with Israeli authorities, who had contacted the French.
Only last week, there was headline when the Iberia airline served Kosher food to a passenger with the words “Free Palestinian” which was crossed on it.However, it seems that the writing was made by someone from the catering facility, not a member of the crew.
El Al Al’s Security Staff Visa Problem in France
El Al Al’s latest incident follows a recent report that the French government has stopped renewing a work visa for the security staff of El Al.El Al is known for his strict air security, where all passengers flying with El Al are interviewed by security staff before their flight.
However, over the past six months, France has reportedly stopped issuing and renewing a work visa for these employees. This prevented El Al’s security staff from working legally in the country.
Historically, El Al’s security staff has been classified as an itan (Israeli citizen who supports diplomatic missions) and has been given a French visa through the Israeli Embassy.
Sources show that this happened because of the difficulties faced by French diplomatic staff with security examinations.According to diplomatic sources quoted by
The Times of Israel
“For months, members of the French Diplomatic Corps in Israel and Jerusalem have been the target of systematic examinations by security personnel El Al at Charles de Gaulle Airport before the airline flight.”
