The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) records an increase in seismic activity in
Lembang fault

Head of BMKG Bandung Geophysics Station Teguh Rahayu said the earthquake occurred in West Bandung Regency with a magnitude 1.7 force on Wednesday (8/20) at 12.28 WIB.The earthquake epicenter was on land at a distance of 3 kilometers northwest of West Bandung Regency with a depth of 10 kilometers.
“Based on BMKG Bandung monitoring, the Lembang fault is currently experiencing an increase in seismic activity. We urge the public to further increase vigilance and strengthen mitigation,” Teguh said in his statement, Wednesday (8/20), quoted from

The shock was felt in the area of West Bandung Regency with an intensity scale II MMI or mild vibration.Until now there have been no reports of building damage due to the incident.
Last week, a shallow earthquake with a magnitude 1.8 also shook the Cisarua region, West Bandung Regency on Thursday (8/14).BMKG at that time also highlighted the active Lembang fault and needed to watch out for.
“The earthquake activity this afternoon was proof that the Lembang Fault was an active fault type that should be watched out for,” said Daryono, Director of Gempabumi and Tsunami BMKG in his statement, Thursday (8/14).
In addition to the Lembang fault, other regions in West Java were also shaken by an earthquake on Wednesday (8/20).At night, a magnitude 4.9 earthquake occurred in Bekasi Regency at 19.54 WIB with an earthquake center on land, 19 kilometers southeast of Bekasi Regency, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
BMKG explained that this shallow earthquake was triggered by a cesarean ride in the back of West Java (West Java Back Arc Thrust).
After that, two aftershocks occurred again in Bekasi, each with a magnitude of 2.1 at a depth of 10 kilometers and magnitude 2 at a depth of 3 kilometers.
In addition to Bekasi, BMKG also recorded aftershocks in Purwakarta Regency with a magnitude of 1.8 at a depth of 33 kilometers at 20.16 WIB.
Until Thursday (8/21) morning, BMKG said a total of 13 aftershocks occurred with the biggest strength with a magnitude of 3.9 and the smallest 1.7.
