, this rainfall occurs because climate change makes seasonal weather patterns stronger.
Several regions in South Asia and Southeast Asia such as Sri Lanka, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar recorded the highest total rainfall in November in the last decade.

As a result, flash floods hit Sri Lanka and Thailand.This condition has prompted a number of countries in Asia to declare flood emergencies in a number of affected areas.
Large floods are inevitable because the land absorption conditions in a number of regions in these countries are no longer able to absorb the very large amounts of rainwater due to environmental destruction.
Parts of Cambodia and Laos also saw November rainfall reach its highest level in more than ten years.
Monthly data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) shows a spike in rainfall.

Indonesia
In Indonesia, the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra were the worst affected by the floods, with thousands of people still isolated and lacking essential supplies.
According to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the death toll in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra was 753 people as of Wednesday (3/12) morning, as quoted by Detik.com.
Based on BNPB data, at least 650 people are missing in the three affected provinces.Meanwhile, as many as 2,600 people were injured.
Thailand
Floods have hit 10 provinces in southern Thailand over the past few weeks, especially in the city of Hat Yai which recorded the heaviest rainfall in 300 years, namely 335 mm in one day.

The death toll is likely to increase as the search and rescue process continues.
Vietnam
Vietnam’s National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (NCHMF) recorded that the current flood in Vietnam was the worst in 50 years.
Extreme rain and the climate crisis have caused flooding in areas such as Dak Lak, Gia Lai and Lam Dong.

Malaysia
Floods submerged seven states in Malaysia on Monday (24/11) morning, resulting in tens of thousands of residents being affected.
According to a report by the Bernama news agency, the state of Kelantan was the worst affected.

Sri Lanka
Cyclone Ditwah hit Sri Lanka on Wednesday (26/11) causing heavy rains that triggered floods and landslides in various areas.
According to the Sri Lanka Disaster Management Center (DMC), the northern part of Colombo is also facing major flooding, as the water level in the Kelani River overflowed on Friday (28/11) evening.
