Later, the North Sumatra Provincial Government apologized for the incident recorded in the viral video.
Head of North Sumatra Communication and Information Agency Erwin Hotmansyah Harahap said the North Sumatra Provincial Government apologized to the public if the message delivered was different. The North Sumatra Provincial Government is said to be improving public communication.
“We apologize if the message that arrives in the community seems different. The provincial government is committed to continuing to improve public communication and is always open to input from the community. Let us together maintain a conducive atmosphere, support each other for a better North Sumatra development,” Erwin said in his statement, Monday (29/9) as quoted by

.
In his statement, Erwin then straightened the events that occurred. He stated that the ranks, including Suib, did not intend to prohibit outside plate vehicles from crossing or doing activities in the North Sumatra region.
Suib is considered to want to invite vehicles operating in North Sumatra to use BK and BB plates. The goal is that the tax enters North Sumatra to improve the road in North Sumatra.
Erwin also emphasized that all vehicles still have the right to cross and move in the North Sumatra region.
“We need to convey firmly, the purpose of the relevant officials in the video is not to prohibit vehicles from outside the North Sumatra. Everyone remains free to cross, work, or trade in the North Sumatra region,” Erwin said.
“What you want to convey is an invitation to vehicle owners who are domiciled and try in North Sumatra, in order to use BK or BB plates, the goal is simple so that vehicle tax can enter and reuse for road construction, public facilities, and community services in North Sumatra,” he continued.
Previously a video showed Bobby accompanied by Suib to stop the truck and requested that the driver take care of the transfer of the Aceh BL plate to the North Sumatra Plate (BK) to be able to pass the road.
The transfer of the plate so that the vehicle tax operating there can enter North Sumatra.Bobby also appeared to suggest to the truck driver so that the plate transfer could be taken care of as soon as possible.
The North Sumatra official’s action was criticized by a member of the Indonesian Parliament in the Aceh Electoral District, Nasir Djamil. He condemned the actions of Bobby Nasution who stopped and raided the Aceh Plate (BL) truck in the Langkat Regency area.
Nasir assessed Bobby’s actions have the potential to disrupt security and damage harmony between regions in Indonesia.
“Unplug the policy immediately, because the policy is a product that denys harmony between regions. Ask Bobby, motorized vehicle registration is a national or regional product? Ask Bobby, does he still recognize the red and white flag as an Indonesian flag?,” Nasir Djamil said in his statement on Monday (29/9).
Nasir asserted, the Vehicle Number Certificate (STNK) is a national product delegated to the authorities in the regions.Because it is national, vehicles with number plates from any province have the same right to cross throughout Indonesia.
“This is a counter harmony policy carried out by a governor,” he said.
Nasir Djamil reminded the development of road infrastructure, both in North Sumatra and in other provinces, is essentially funded by the State Budget (APBN) and the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) sourced from public money.
“All roads in Indonesia have public money in it. Therefore, Commission III urges the North Sumatra Police Chief and its staff to crack down on those who interfere with public order and community security,” he said.
Members of the House of Representatives Commission III even asked the police to behave firmly if the Governor of North Sumatra continued to maintain the discriminatory policy.Nasir emphasized that Bobby could be secured and processed by law if the policy continued to be carried out.
“The governor must see the problem clearly and comprehensively, not partially. If there is something wrong with transportation, there are authorities who take action. Instead of making policies that clash the residents of Antarda region,” he said.
