“Indonesian national team defender, Mees Hilgers, certainly cannot join the Garuda squad at the FIFA Match Day event in September 2025,” Kita Garuda.id wrote in his report on the official website.
“Hilgers are currently focusing on completing the club’s movement process which is an important part of his career,” we wrote Garuda.id added.
We Garuda.id also ensured that the absence of Hilgers did not reduce the enthusiasm of the Indonesian national team in facing two important matches in the FIFA Matchday September agenda testing against Taiwan on Saturday (5/9) and Lebanese opponents on Tuesday (8/9).
Coach Patrick Kluivert remains optimistic that his team will take advantage of the momentum of the CIBA test match to strengthen the strategy and preparation ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualification in the fourth round of Asia which will be held in Saudi Arabia in October.
Even without Hilgers, the Garuda squad remains determined to prepare for the best possible in order to achieve positive results in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
FIFA Matchday September 2025 will begin with a match against Taiwan on September 5, followed by a match against Lebanon on September 8.
All matches will be held at the Bung Tomo Gelora Stadium, Surabaya, which is expected to be a valuable trial event for the Indonesian national team.
