Apart from that, the two of them also discussed the development of a reciprocal agreement regarding trade tariffs, which is currently being formulated by teams from the two countries.
According to Luhut, the direction of discussions on tariffs is constructive and mutually beneficial, although several technical matters still need to be refined.
This meeting in Washington DC was also a reflection for Luhut about the meaning of sustainable partnership.
He assessed that strong bilateral relations are not only built on common interests, but also a willingness to seek balance for long-term stability.
“Today’s meeting reminded me again that strong partnerships are not born from shared interests alone, but from a willingness to seek balance,” he said.
Through this meeting, Luhut hopes that the stability of bilateral trade and economic relations between Indonesia and Uncle Sam’s country can continue to be maintained amidst developing global dynamics.
