immediately faced with a tough match against Saudi Arabia in the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup Qualification, Wednesday (8/10) local time.
Romeny and Paes are included in the list of 29 Indonesian national team players chosen by Patrick Kluivert.Both were called up after being sidelined for some time due to injury.
Romeny suffered a broken leg while defending Oxford United in the 2025 President’s Cup pre-season. As a result of this injury, Romeny has not appeared in competitive matches at club and national team level.

Paes felt an almost similar situation.The FC Dallas goalkeeper was sidelined for seven weeks due to a hamstring injury.
After the injury, Paes did not play with Dallas again until he finally received a call to the Indonesian national team.Paes only sat on the bench when Dallas won 2-1 over LA Galazxy on the Major League Soccer (MLS) stage, 5 October.
This injury meant that Romeny and Paes were unable to fulfill the call for the Indonesian national team when they tried out against Taiwan and Lebanon last September.
Even though he has been absent for almost two months, Paes will be the focus of the Indonesian National Team’s hopes between the sticks.The absence of Emil Audero means that he is needed to guard the goal with his experience.
Romeny also has the same hope to fill the striker post.It is hoped that the former FC Utrecht player’s sharpness before his injury with the Red and White Team can appear in the match against Saudi Arabia.
From four matches with the Indonesian National Team, Romeny was able to score three goals.However, what must be remembered is that Romeny has just recovered from a long injury and has not appeared in a competitive match until now.
