Coach
Laos U-23
Ha Hyeok Jun said
Indonesian U-23 national team
At present not as strong as the era of Shin Tae Yong’s coaching.
This was revealed by Ha Hyeok Jun after Laos to offset the Indonesian U-23 national team in the first match of the 2026 U-23 Asian Cup qualifying at the Gelora Delta Stadium on Wednesday (3/9).
In this match Indonesia dominated the game and opportunity, but could not break into the Laos goalkeeper which was guarded by Lokphathip Kop.
According to Ha Heyok Jun, the U-23 national team which is currently trained by Gerald Vanenburg has a different quality from the Shin Tae Yong era.
“I also felt that the Indonesian team when trained Shin Tae Yong was a stronger squad. But now it seems like they are in a transition, so it’s not as strong as before,” Ha Hyeok Jun said after the match.
This was felt by Ha Hyeok Jun when serving Indonesia who used U-23 players in the 2024 AFF Cup last year.
“During the Mitsubishi Cup (2024), when the coach Shin Tae Yong, their team seemed to have more fighting spirit and tactics clearer,” said Hyeok Jun.
The 55 -year -old coach underlined the Garuda way of attacking during the Sty era which he considered better.
“Their attacks are also quite aggressive and they use a good strategy. But in my opinion, it is not as strong as in the era of Shin Tae Yong, especially in terms of attack power,” said Ha Hyeok Jun.
“Even I thought, ‘Is it possible that Indonesia can beat us with a score of 2-3?’But in reality, compared to that time, it seemed like they were a little weaker.
In the hands of Shin Tae Yong, the Indonesian U-23 national team reached a number of achievements. In addition to qualifying for the U-23 Asian Cup finals for the first time through qualifications, Indonesia can also reach the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup semifinals and the 2024 Olympic playoffs.
