“Later it will be studied, we will propose that it (Airbnb accommodation) be stopped,” said Koster after attending the 15th Regional Conference of the Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Bali in Denpasar, Bali, Wednesday (3/12).
In his speech, Koster said that there were more than 2,000 unlicensed hotel and villa units on the island of Bali that had to be controlled.

“Tourists are increasing, but the occupancy rate is also not increasing (not) in line with the number of tourists coming to Bali. Apart from that, it is also detrimental to regional income. It does not fully support Bali’s local economy, that is what is happening now,” he said.
“Not to mention the illegal ones, not to mention the naughty ones, we will discipline them all without mercy. We all have to be united. So I invite everyone to be united in Bali, it is not only the government’s responsibility but all of ours,” he continued.
Koster also ensured that private houses and villas in Bali rented by foreigners at low prices and without paying taxes would be regulated next year.
“There are houses, there are private villas rented by foreigners at very cheap prices. Because they don’t pay taxes, right? It’s a shame for licensed hotels, paying taxes in the face of (illegal) accommodations. There is already data. It will be proposed to be stopped, starting in 2026 it will be dealt with,” he said.
