It is known, Sumenep is being hit by a measles outbreak.The latest data, there were 2,035 cases of suspected measles.As many as 17 of them were reported to have died.
Khofifah said, the East Java Provincial Government had sent 9,825 MR vaccine vials from the Ministry of Health to the Sumenep Health Office for the vaccination that began today, Monday (25/8) and was targeted to be completed until Sunday (9/14).
“Today’s simultaneous immunization is carried out in Sumenep. So the vaccine from the Ministry of Health has dropped. From the Provincial Government has dropped, two days ago I went there to start that today’s simultaneous immunization was certain to run more comprehensively,” Khofifah said in Surabaya, Monday (8/25).
Uneven MR vaccination is a problem of measles in Sumenep.A total of 17 residents were reported to have died, 16 of them were confirmed that they had never undergone immunizations, while the other one was incomplete immunization.
For this reason, Khofifah requested that the distribution of vaccines involving a number of strategic parties ranging from posyandu, police, TNI, to academics from Airlangga University.
In addition to maximizing vaccination, early preventive efforts were also carried out by socializing the importance of the Rubela Measles vaccination.
“If there is something that has not been reached, then the outreach must be carried out by the community in the lowest line. I ask that the posyandu helps to help the outreach process, Mr. Babinsa, Bhabinkamtibmas. Friends from the Airlangga Team today also dropped, participating in maximizing the achievements of immunization,” he said.
Pediatrician of Muh Anwar Sumenep Hospital, Anita said, an increase in the number of measles cases in Sumenep was caused by the lack of knowledge from the public about the importance of prevention.

Until now, Muh.Anwar Sumenep is handling sixteen measles patients.Anita ensured that the current condition of the patients was stable.
“Alhamdulillah, 16 measles patients are stable and God willing, today there will be two repatriated people,” he said.
