) Ngalum Kupel reportedly burned the Kiwirok State Middle School building in Sopamikma Village, Kiwirok District, Bintang Mountain Regency, Papua Mountains, Tuesday (7/10) at around 07.45 WIT.
Kaops Damai Cartenz Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani said based on observation, around 16 unknown people were burning the educational facility.
The Cartenz Damai Operation Task Force Bersama, Task Force Pamtas Yonif RK 753, Task Force Prayuda (Mamta), Bais Task Force, Task Force Rajawali and Kiwirok District Police Station immediately moved towards the location, but the perpetrators had fled towards Delpem Village.

“The attack on schools is a heinous act that targets the future of Papuan children. This is not only a crime against the state, but also against humanity. We will continue to hunt down the perpetrators and ensure that the Kiwirok region remains safe,” Faizal said in his statement on Tuesday (7/10).
To prevent further action, said Faizal, the team then carried out security in Mangoldolki Village which was not far from the scene, in anticipation of burning of Kiwirok State Elementary School.
The Kiwirok State Middle School building was not the first time the target of the KKB.In 2021, the same school was also burned by the group.
Since then, the teaching and learning process at Kiwirok State Middle School has been forced to be moved to SMP Negeri 1 Oksibil in the City of Oksibil.
Meanwhile, Wakaops Damai Cartenz Kombes Adarma Sinaga urged the public to remain vigilant and not easily provoked.
“We ask the public to remain calm and immediately report if you see suspicious movements. The security forces are always present to protect and guarantee the safety of residents,” he said.
