Before the examination of witnesses Secretary of the Semarang City Housing and Settlement Office (Disperkim) Murni Ediati, the lawyer of the defendants had asked permission from the Panel of Judges so that the open session could be recorded by the media crew.
“We ask because this trial is open to the public, journalists to record because there are those outside cannot listen to the trial,” said one lawyer in the courtroom.
However, the panel of judges still forbid and requested that the course of the next trial such as the statements of witnesses should not be recorded.
“If it is not allowed to record it, if you listen, the agreement is like that,” Rudy told the lawyer.
He mentioned based on the agreement, visitors including the media crew may only listen to the trial.
“You write it already,” he said.
Previously, five students underwent the inaugural hearing in the May Day demonstration case led to chaos in Semarang on Thursday (8/14).
Five defendants are Muhammad Akmal Sajid, Afta Dhiaulhaq Al-Fahis, Kemal Maulana, Afrizal Nor Hysam, and Mohamad Jovan Rizaldi.Three of them were listed as students of Semarang State University (Unnes), one student of Diponegoro University (Undip), and one student of Semarang University (USM).
The prosecutor charged the five students for allegedly committing violence against the authorities and damaged public facilities during the International Labor Day action.
However, four defendants made objections through exception.The four are Muhammad Akmal Sajid, Afta Dhiaulhaq al-Fahis, Kemal Maulana, and Afrizal Nor Hysam.But the exception was rejected.
While one of the defendants in the May Day action case, Mohamad Jovan Rizaldi chose to accept the indictment of the Public Prosecutor (JPU) and took another path by submitting
Restorative Justice.
