(US) Donald Trump on Monday (8/25) said he wanted to ask South Korea to surrender the land that is currently leased to become a US military base in the country.
“Maybe I want to ask them to provide ownership of the land. We have spent a lot of money to build a large fort. It would be better if we no longer rent, but have ownership of the land,” Trump said when meeting South Korean President Lee Jae Myung in the White House, Washington.
Trump’s statement again highlighted the existence of US military bases spread across various parts of the world.
From Asia to Africa, and Europe to the Arctic region, this military facility is an important part of the Washington global defense strategy.
