Indonesian men’s doubles, especially those originating from
Pelatnas Cipayung
, will experience changes in the second half of this year.
At the beginning of this year, PBSI Pelatnas had eight people in the men’s doubles sector which was merged in four couples namely Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, Muhammad Shohibul Fikri/Daniel Marthin, Yeremia Erich Yoche Yacob Rambitan/Rahmat Hidayat, and Leo Rolly Carnando/Bagas Maulana.
Except Leo/Bagas, three other couples experienced unloading for various reasons.
Fajar and Fikri were united in July because Rian was absent because of family matters.Coinciding with that Daniel must also pull over because it is still struggling with injury recovery.
Fajar/Fikri then reaped success by becoming the Champion of China Open 2025. As soon as that Rian returned after accompanying his wife Ribka Sugiarto during the birth of the first child.
When Fajar/Fikri could bring achievements, the men’s doubles coach Antonius Budi Ariantho was curious to try out their abilities in the future tournaments.
“Yesterday saw the appearance and performance of Fajar/Fikri quite well in Japan and China Open, I want to try to see them again whether they can consistently compete at the top level,” said Anton.
The decision made Rian be paired with Jeremiah which was previously paired with Rahmat Hidayat.
“Likewise with Rian/Jeremia, the status of the two tournament trials first, I want to see what it looks like. There is still a grace that can be tried too.”
“This trial is indeed while waiting for the recovery of Daniel’s injury, which is expected to return in January next year.
Fajar/Rian will still appear at the World Championship which took place at the end of August before being separated again in September.
In addition to the row of PBSI Pelatnas pairs, Indonesia was also represented by the men’s doubles with an independent career, Patient Karyaman Gutama/Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani in the World Badminton Tournament.
