, Aymen Hussein, received criticism ahead of the 4th round of the 2026 Asian World Cup qualifiers in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Aymen Hussein is the most experienced Iraqi national team striker in recent years.The 29 -year -old striker has scored 32 goals in 89 matches with Iraq.

Former Iraqi national team striker Faisal Aziz said he was disappointed to see Hussein’s performance in the last few matches.In fact, Aziz said Hussein was a player that fits the style of the game of Graham Arnold coach.
“At the moment Aymen Hussein is not in his best condition. Al Karma’s match against Erbil will be Hussein’s last chance to prove his fitness, because the Iraqi national team really needs his services.”
“His play style matches the Australian [Arnold] coach, who relies on cross bait, and you will not find a better choice than Hussein’s head,” said Faisal Aziz.
Furthermore, the attacker who strengthened the Iraqi national team in the 1980s was convinced that if Hussein was unable to improve performance, the position of the Iraqi national team starter against Indonesia and Saudi Arabia would belong to Mohanad Ali.
“In my opinion Hussein’s position is threatened, given Ali’s brilliant performance who is enjoying his best time with the club, and he continues to score goals,” Aziz said.
“That is why I think he will be a starter in two Iraqi play-off matches, especially matches against Indonesia, because Ali always shines against East Asian teams, and the King’s Cup in Thailand is his best example,” he continued.
The Indonesian national team is scheduled to face Saudi Arabia on October 8 and against Iraq on October 11.
