Indonesia reduced to US $ 152 billion as of the end of July 2025 after the government paid
debt
overseas.
Head of Bank Indonesia Communication Department Ramdan Deny Prakoso said last month’s foreign exchange reserve position was US $ 152.6 billion.Although down, he said that Indonesia’s foreign exchange reserves are still in the high category.
“These developments are influenced by the payment of government foreign debt and the policy of stabilizing the rupiah exchange rate in response to Bank Indonesia in dealing with the uncertainty of the global financial market that remains high,” Ramdan said through a written statement, Thursday (7/8).
Ramdan conveyed that foreign exchange reserves are currently equivalent to the import of 6.3 months of imports.Indonesian foreign exchange reserves are also equivalent to financing 6.2 months of imports accompanied by payment of government foreign debt.
Indonesia’s foreign exchange reserves exceed the international adequacy standards, which is equivalent to 3 months of import.The central bank assesses that this number is able to support external sector resilience and maintain macroeconomic stability and financial system.
BI views the current position of foreign exchange reserves to support the resilience of external sectors in line with export prospects that are maintained.
Foreign currency reserves currently also support the resilience of the capital and financial transaction that is predicted to remain surplus, as well as positive perceptions of investors of the prospects of the domestic economy.
“Bank Indonesia continues to increase synergy with the government in strengthening external security in order to maintain economic stability to support sustainable economic growth,” Ramdan said.
