Lawyer Hotman Paris opened his voice after his former client of the Minister of Education and Culture
Nadiem Makarim
determined as a suspect in the corruption case of the education digitalization program for the 2019-2022 period.
Hotman assessed what Nadiem experienced at this time as the former Minister of Trade of Thomas Trikasih Lembong was felt in the corruption case of importing crystal sugar.
He said in this case the investigator of the Youth Attorney General for the Special Criminal Act of the Attorney General’s Office did not succeed in finding a single flow of funds received by Nadiem.
“The fate of Nadiem is the same as the fate of Lembong. There is no, one rupiah that the prosecutor found money into Nadiem’s pocket,” he told reporters on Thursday (4/9).
“There is no one cent incoming from anyone to Nadiem related to buying and selling laptops. Exactly the same as the Lembong case,” he added.
Hotman explained that when the laptop procurement project was carried out at the Ministry of Education and Culture, Google did indeed make an investment in Gojek. However, he said, the investment was not the first time done by Google.
He said that previously Google had also invested four times in Gojek with a value in accordance with the market price.
“Google is a giant company in the world. It is impossible for him to play bribes. It’s not possible. Google is only purely investor in Gojek and has been a stock investor in Gojek for a long time before he is a minister,” he concluded.
Previously, the AGO named the former Minister of Research and Technology Nadiem Makarim as a suspect in the alleged corruption case of the education digitization program for the 2019-2022 period.
During that period, the Ministry of Education and Culture held 1.2 million laptop units for schools in Indonesia, especially in 3T areas with a total budget of Rp9.3 trillion.
The procurement of this laptop was chosen using the Chrome or Chromebook operating system even though it has many weaknesses and is not effective for learning facilities in the 3T area because it does not have internet access.
Besides Nadiem, the AGO also named four suspects namely the Director of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Ministry of Education and Culture 2020-2021, Mulyatsyah;Director of SD Kemendikbudristek 2020-2021, Sri Wahyuningsih;Former Staff of the Minister of Education and Culture Nadiem Makarim, Jurist Tan;and a former technology consultant at the Ministry of Research and Technology, Ibrahim Arief.
For the actions of the suspects, the state allegedly suffered a loss of up to Rp1.98 trillion consisting of losses due to software items (CDM) of Rp480 billion and mark up the price of a laptop of Rp1.5 trillion.
