Reporting the alleged copyright violation of 517 works to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police.
The report was made on July 1524 and registered with the number LP/B/3992/VII/2024/SPKT Polda Metro Jaya.However, the attorney of heirs, Jainal Riko Frans Tampubolon said that until now there was no development of the investigation process of the report.
On that basis, the heir’s lawyer team came to the Jakarta Metropolitan Police to ask about the development of the investigation of the report on Thursday (8/28).
“Today’s presence we submit a letter of request for the development of the results of the investigation to the Indag investigator who handled the police report on behalf of our client,” Jainal Riko Frans Tampubolon told reporters.
Jainal explained that before sending a report last year, his party had sent a subpoena to two companies suspected of committing copyright violations.However, the summons were ignored.
“What we report is that there are around 517 song creation works. So there are around 517 song creation works consisting of song recording rights, phonogram producer rights, then the rights of the performers, the rights of the singer artist, then the rights of the songwriter,” he said.
“The reported there are two companies. One company is recording a label, then one more reported is the company,” he continued.
In the report, the heirs reported the alleged violation of Article 113 paragraph (4) and/or Article 116 paragraph (4) and/or Article 117 paragraph (3) of Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Ciptajunjunctopasal 372 Criminal Code.
Furthermore, the heirs requested that the Jakarta Metropolitan Police be able to immediately follow up on the report and investigate it thoroughly.
“We ask the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, hopefully we can professionally handle this case accountably, quickly, and if possible in the future this will soon be carried out so that the status is increased. Because this is really a violation of the copyright,” he said.
