According to him, the ulama at PBNU make decisions based on religious values.So, Gus Ipul emphasized that he would follow the decision of the ulama.
“Of course the ulama make decisions based on religious values. That’s all. So we follow the ulama’s decisions,” he said.
Previously, PBNU General Chair Yahya Cholil Staquf (Gus Yahya) removed Gus Ipul from the position of PBNU Secretary General.Gus Yahya appointed Amin Said Husni to replace Gus Ipul.
In a written statement received on Friday (28/11), the decision regarding the rotation of a number of important positions within PBNU was made at the PBNU Daily Tanfidziyah Meeting which was held on Friday afternoon.
Gus Ipul was shifted to become Chair of PBNU for Education, Law and Media.
On the other hand, Rais Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Akhyar stated that Yahya Cholil Staquf (Gus Yahya) will no longer serve as General Chair of PBNU as of November 26 2025 at 00.45 WIB.
This means, according to Miftachul, Gus Yahya no longer has the authority or right to use the attributes of General Chair.
“As of November 26 2025 at 00.45 WIB, KH Yahya Cholil Staquf will no longer have the status of General Chair of PBNU. Since then, the leadership of PBNU has been completely in the hands of Rais Aam,” said Miftachul after the meeting between Rais Aam PBNU with the PBNU Syuriah and 36 PWNUs which was held at the East Java PWNU office, Surabaya, Saturday (29/11).
Miftachul emphasized that PBNU’s Syariah decision is final.He added that using attributes or making decisions in the name of the General Chairperson no longer has legitimacy.
“So he has no right to use attributes and does not have the authority as general chairman of PBNU,” he said.
