“Starting today (Tuesday, September 30, 2025), the Cesium 137 Task Force decided on the Cikande Modern Industrial Estate with a special event for radiation contamination,” said Minister of LH, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, at the location, Tuesday (30/9).
In the aftermath of the status, access to the entry and exit of vehicles and goods in the area will be monitored by a joint team.

Based on monitoring, the guard post that has been established at the entrance of the Cikande Modern Industrial Estate is guarded by a joint team of Brimob, the Nuclear Energy Supervisory Agency (BAPETEN), the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), to the Ministry of Environment (LH).
The Cesium 137 special team has been in the last few weeks in Cikande District, Serang Regency, Banten, to find to decontaminate radiation exposure.
All vehicles in and out are checked using the Radiation Portal Monitoring (RPM).If someone is exposed to radiation, it will be decontaminated first before being allowed to continue the journey.
“When in our indicator, it is allegedly containing 137 contamination, it will be done in the grounded, then a decontamination is carried out. So that no longer then there is a possibility of cesium 137 it flows everywhere,” said Hanif.
From the examination, Hanif explained, the special team found 10 Cesium 137 contamination points with different forces around the Modern Cikande industrial area.So far, only two locations have been declared to have been completed in the decontamination.
Hanif said, objects that emit Cesium 137 radiation will be moved to the warehouse of PT Peter Metal Technology (PMT) to localize the contamination.
Whereas the location exposed, has been fitted with a police line or the Environmental Protection Supervision Line (PPLH) and the nameplate of the prohibition crossed.This step is to prevent people from entering the area.

The discovery of the CS-137 exposure in Cikande began with the rejection of Indonesian frozen shrimp products in several major Ports of the United States (US) in August.Local authorities detect radiation in containers, which then triggers an investigation across institutions in the country.
The search results found that radioactive substances were not related to the sea or ponds, but the metal industry activity.
The Nuclear Power Supervisory Agency (BAPETEN) explains that CS-137 is an artificial substance commonly used in industrial equipment, among others to measure the flow of fluids and the thickness of the material.
This substance is not formed naturally in the environment and in detail can pose a serious health risk, including an increased risk of cancer if it enters the body.
