FAM decided to appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) after receiving a statement from FIFA regarding the rejection of the appeal in the case of fake documents for seven naturalized players.
Regarding FAM’s steps, former Malaysian national team player Datuk Jamal Nasir Ismail warned the government, including the Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports, not to interfere in this matter.

, FIFA has made a decision and handed over this case to be resolved by FAM.Because of this, Jamal Nasir does not want the Ministry of Youth and Sports to be involved in order to avoid greater risks.
“The Ministry of Youth and Sports cannot interfere, the government cannot interfere. If the government interferes more heavily, perhaps (FAM) could be suspended as has happened in several previous countries, including Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam,” said Jamal Nasir.
“They (FAM) have to resolve it themselves with FIFA. However, I think the government also knows and will not interfere because this problem is serious. So, the government cannot interfere in FIFA’s affairs.”
If the Malaysian government intervenes in this FIFA and FAM issue, the punishment imposed by the world football body on FAM could be greater.
“If FAM is suspended, the impact will be very big and could destroy the football ecosystem in this country,” said Jamal.
After rejecting FAM’s appeal, FIFA will reportedly carry out an investigation into the agency’s internal operations.
