When sitting on the plane, of course passengers want to get the best sitting position so that during
flight
feels comfortable and safe.
However, it seems that now you need to consider avoiding certain positions while sitting during the flight, because there are threatening health risks.
According to Physiotherapist Bethany Tomlinson, crossing your legs while sitting plane can increase the risk of joint pain and deep venous thrombosis (DVT).
DVT is a blood clot that can form when sitting silent for a long time, and this condition is at risk of occurring during flying.
As reported
The South African
, crossing the legs turned out to worsen blood circulation, thus making the risk of DVT even greater.
To reduce the risk of DVT and protect your joints, Tomlinson recommends several things to aircraft passengers:
– Lean your back and relax your shoulders: A good posture can reduce tension and make sitting more comfortable.
– Moving the body every 1-2 hours: walking in the cabin can prevent stiffness and swelling in the knee, hips, and ankle.
– Lift your feet a little: If your chair has a footrest, use it to slightly lift your feet to increase blood flow.
Tomlinson also suggested some light exercises to airplane passengers, which can be done in seats, such as stretching the neck, shoulder rotation, and hugging the knees.
Well, for those of you who have the habit of crossing your legs when sitting on the plane, maybe you need to change and look for new positions that are more comfortable and no risk of health.
