, research analyzing 24 years of data from NASA’s Clouds and the Earth’s Radiant Energy System (CERES) instrument reveals that the Earth absorbs and radiates energy in two main forms, namely incoming solar energy or absorbed solar radiation (ASR) and heat released back into space or outgoing longwave radiation (OLR).

When compared, the northern hemisphere is recorded to absorb more sunlight.In the study period, this region received an additional 0.34 watts per square meter every decade compared to the southern hemisphere.
Even though this number seems small, its impact is considered significant on the Earth’s energy balance.
The phenomenon of the darkening of the northern hemisphere is mainly influenced by two major factors.
