made a confession about the treatment of the kidnappers while they were still being held by the Palestinian resistance group.
Former Israeli soldier (IDF) Matan Angrest admitted that Hamas gave the hostages freedom to worship during the period of captivity.

Angrest was one of 20 hostages released by Hamas on Monday (13/10) and Tuesday (14/10), after reaching a permanent ceasefire with Israel last week.
He said Hamas gave permission for the hostages to perform Jewish religious services three times a day.
Based on an interview with Israeli television Channel 13 as quoted by Middle East Monitor (MEMO), Angrest revealed that Hamas even provided a number of requests from the hostages regarding equipment for worship.
This equipment includes, among others
tefillin
which is a forehead covering box made of leather for prostrating,
siddur
(book of prayer readings for worship), and the holy book of the Torah.
Angrest said he never left his three times daily prayers in the tunnel while still being held by Hamas.He also revealed that he almost died several times as a result of Israeli bomb attacks that destroyed tunnels.
Hamas has repeatedly stated that it seeks to protect the lives of detainees while holding them hostage.
Hamas has also repeatedly warned that Israel’s intense and indiscriminate bombardment in the Gaza Strip also poses a serious threat to the hostages who are Israeli citizens.
Several Hamas hostages even died as a result of Israel’s own attacks.
Angrest’s testimony about his treatment while being held hostage stands in stark contrast to various reports from human rights organizations that describe the harsh conditions experienced by Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.
Several Hamas hostages said that the militia treated them well during their captivity.Meanwhile, Palestinian prisoners of Israel receive torture, including medical negligence and other ill-treatment.
