Polytron’s Commercial Director, Tekno Wibowo, explained that after the incentives stopped in October 2024, sales of electric motorbikes took a sharp dive.He said that throughout 2024, almost 60 thousand units will be sold, whereas this year it is estimated that only 20 thousand units will be sold.

According to him, the business side hopes for government assistance in the form of further incentives to get the electric motorbike industry moving.However, he also believes that he must be realistic about whether the government can provide these incentives.
In order to maintain demand, producers are said to have implemented a series of strategies, one of which is offering discounts to the public.

“But as business people, we also don’t want to remain silent, so we also give discounts. Each company also gives its own discount according to their capacity in the hope that this can create demand. They don’t have to wait for subsidies from the government (to) keep buying these electric motorbikes,” said Tekno in a joint interview broadcast.

According to him, producers also have a goal of building domestic industry.Tekno believes that electric motorbikes will have a big market in Indonesia.
“I can’t speak for others, but for Polytron, because our goal is to build domestic industry, for us, we have to balance whether production at the factory continues or whether we have to absorb the losses from this subsidy or discount program,” he said.
