Officially become a candidate for the New Autonomy Preparation Region (CDPOB) or a new regional expansion candidate in West Java, after being determined by the West Java DPRD and
West Java Provincial Government

Deputy Chairman of West Java DPRD Ono Surono in a plenary meeting, stated that the approval of the East Cirebon CDPOB was part of the effort to equalize the development and the results of the long struggle of the East Cirebon people who had long wanted to become a new district.
“The long history of discussion and discussion for approximately 20 years from the village level to the district finally today treading the new chapter at the West Java Province level. Furthermore, based on that we ask for the approval of whether the proposal to form the East Cirebon Regency CDPOB as mentioned in the Commission I report can be approved,” Ono said in a plenary meeting at the West Java DPRD building.
The question was welcomed by the word agreement of the West Java DPRD in the plenary meeting.The East Cirebon East Mandiri Forum who witnessed the plenary meeting, gave an applause.
Furthermore, the West Java DPRD will submit the results of approval to the CDPOB proposal of East Cirebon Regency to the Ministry of Home Affairs.However, the process of forming East Cirebon Regency still has to wait for the opening of the moratorium by the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
Meanwhile, West Java Regional Secretary (Sekda), Herman Suryatman revealed, with approved by East Cirebon Regency as CDPOB, there were 10 CDPOB proposals submitted by the West Java Provincial Government to the Central Government.
“The CDPOB proposal that has entered the central government is nine, namely North Sukabumi, West Bogor, South Garut, West Indramayu, East Bogor, South Cianjur, South Tasikmalaya, North Garut, North Subang. After the East Cirebon process, the number is 10 CDPOB,” he said.
Quoted from AFP, East Cirebon will consist of 16 districts with an area of 446.57 square kilometers.The sub-districts, namely Astanajapura, Babakan, Ciledug, Gebang, Greged, Karangsembung, Karangwareng, Lemahabang, Losari, Pabedilan, Pabuaran, Pangenan, Article, Sedong, Susukan Lebak, and Waled.
Regarding the location of the capital city, there are still two strong candidates.Cirebon Regent and Cirebon Regency DPRD chose Karangwareng District as the center of government.While the West Java DPRD and the Unpad Research Team recommend Karangsembung District.
